Job summary

Nubank is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the Money Boxes core platform architecture across multiple countries. You will guide high-concurrency, multi-tenant systems for deposits, investments, and liquidity orchestration, building extensible engines that scale for millions of users.

You will mentor engineers, drive RFCs, and collaborate with Payments, Core Banking, Investments, and Security leadership in a hybrid/onsite environment. English required; Brazil or US hubs available.

Qualifications

• Senior IC track record: proven experience as a senior technical leader designing, operating, and scaling highly available distributed systems.
• Fintech, banking, or investments domain depth: hands-on experience building transactional systems such as savings platforms or core banking infrastructure.
• Distributed systems mastery: fluency in event-driven architectures, transactional consistency, distributed sagas, DDD, and high-concurrency microservices.
• Platform & API mindset: ability to build domain-agnostic platforms and APIs with clear contracts, SLAs, and high observability.
• Strategic & horizontal influence: experience aligning across orgs and communicating strategy to engineers, PMs, and leaders.
• Language & location: English fluency required; Portuguese/Spanish a plus; roles open in Brazil (hybrid) or key US hubs.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the multi-year technical vision for Money Boxes backend architecture across assets and countries.
• Architect high-throughput ledgering and balance tracking engines with exact-once delivery and real-time accruals.
• Design resilient deposit/withdrawal/auto-investment flows with low latency and zero error margin.
• Abstract regulatory rules and currency nuances into clean platform boundaries for localized experiences.
• Author RFCs and drive architectural consensus across Payments, Core Banking, Investments, and Security.
• Mentor engineers in distributed systems design, resilience, fault tolerance, and DDD.
