Job summary

Micron Technology in Boise is seeking a lead electrical engineer to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electrical power to manufacturing operations. You will serve as a technical leader for high-voltage systems, owning design support, operations, and reliability while partnering closely with engineering, construction, operations, and safety teams.

This role is highly visible with meaningful impact for hands-on ownership of complex power systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience with high-voltage (≥115kV) utility or industrial power systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE, and NESC standards.
  • Experience with power system analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, Aspen OneLiner, or equivalent.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and familiarity with 3D design tools such as Revit or Navisworks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering oversight of 230kV systems including breakers, transformers, protection, grounding, and substation infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support for design, installation, commissioning, energization, and operation of utility-scale electrical equipment.
  • Own reliability strategy including condition assessments, predictive maintenance, health monitoring, and life-cycle planning.
  • Perform root cause analysis for electrical events and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain substation documentation, one- lines, operating procedures, switching plans, and emergency response materials.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience with high-voltage (≥115kV) utility or industrial power systems
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE, and NESC standards
  • Experience with power system analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, Aspen OneLiner, or equivalent
  • Experience using AutoCAD and familiarity with 3D design tools such as Revit or Navisworks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with protective relays, protection schemes, and relay settings development
  • Experience with SCADA interfaces and power monitoring systems
  • Experience with utility coordination, transmission-level equipment, or substation operations
  • Experience mentoring engineers or technicians in high-voltage systems and electrical safety
