Job summary

Blitzy, a Cambridge, MA-based AI software platform, seeks a Senior Member of Technical Staff to shape engineering strategy, scale teams, and translate product vision into a robust, high-performance platform. You will partner with the CTO to drive architecture decisions and build a leadership bench capable of delivering at startup speed.

This role requires 8+ years in software engineering, including leadership, and a proven ability to manage multiple teams delivering complex systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering leadership.
• Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams at high-growth technology companies.
• Deep technical expertise across modern software architecture, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience managing engineering managers and building leadership benches.
• Strong track record of shipping complex software products on predictable timelines.
• Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to executives and Boards.
• Demonstrated ability to balance technical depth with strategic, business-level thinking.
• Experience operating in fast-paced, high-ambiguity startup environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale a high-performing engineering organization, with strong processes for hiring, onboarding, and career development.
• Drive the technical roadmap and architecture decisions that keep the platform reliable, secure, and performant at scale.
• Serve as the right hand of the CTO to establish engineering rigor—code quality standards, CI/CD practices, incident response, and on-call processes.
• Develop and mentor engineering managers and senior ICs, creating a strong leadership bench.
• Represent engineering in company-wide strategic planning and support the CTO for Board-level updates.
• Stand up new engineering functions, teams, or processes where gaps exist, solving hard technical and organizational problems.
