Job summary

GEICO seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the Substantiation Platform, validating financial data across enterprise sources and enabling robust controls and auditability. You will collaborate with Finance, Compliance, Product, and ERP teams to deliver reliable reconciliation services and data lineage.

You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and own end-to-end solutions from design to production, ensuring performance and observability in high-volume

Qualifications

• 10+ years software development with staff/principal-level impact.
• 8+ years leading architecture and large initiatives with cross-functional leadership.
• 6+ years cloud-native/distributed systems in production.
• 5+ years high-volume data reconciliation or financial/payments/ledger-adjacent systems.
• 4+ years major cloud platform.
• Preferred financial services/insurance; ERP/GL familiarity.
• Kafka/Snowflake/Airflow; Python/PySpark/Snowpark a plus.
• Education: BS/MS in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and architectural leadership for substantiation and reconciliation services, APIs, and data paths.
• Build scalable, secure software for matching, exceptions, and financial controls.
• Drive modernization away from legacy reconciliation and financial systems.
• Own end-to-end solutions—design through production, including reliability and observability.
• Align with Product, Finance, Compliance, and Treasury on requirements and outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and influence leadership with clear tradeoffs and roadmaps.
