Schnabel, Inc. in Chadds Ford, PA is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to join our geotechnical practice. You will apply professional principles, perform design calculations, and develop engineering recommendations as part of a collaborative team.

The role offers field work, CAD documentation, and the opportunity to grow within an employee-owned design firm renowned for quality and community focus. Travel may be required for project assignments nationwide.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel.

Responsibilities

• Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
• Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance with internal drafting procedures and guidelines.
• Prepare complete plans and specifications to be part of construction documents.
• Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports.
• Perform design calculations for hydraulic structures including spillways, dam outlet works, diversion and check structures, measurement flumes, and other various raw water infrastructure.
• Perform geotechnical analyses for embankment dams and interpret geotechnical data and laboratory testing.
• Conduct geotechnical field explorations, including drilling oversight and soil/rock sampling.
• Perform structural analyses and prepare detailed design calculations for dams and hydraulic structures using applicable codes and standards.
• Perform inspections of dams and hydraulic structures.
• Collect data and measurements in the field.
