Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to serve as a Technical Lead across multiple pods in the Money Group, the company’s fastest-growing organization and a cornerstone of its transformation into the Small Business Finance Platform.

You will shape technical vision for systems powering financial health including accounts, money movement, lending, expense controls, etc., guiding architecture as the team scales.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep, hands-on experience building financial infrastructure in regulated environments.
• Proven track record of scaling and operating large production systems.
• Ability to define technical vision and drive multi-quarter architectural initiatives.
• Strong communication of technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Technical Lead across multiple pods in the Money Group, setting architectural direction and unblocking engineers.
• Define the technical vision for domain areas and own shorter-term projects.
• Connect People Stack and Finance Stack architectures within teams.
• Lead service migration from monolith to service-oriented architecture across money movement, lending, and tax.
• Manage complex partner ecosystem and perform technical due diligence on vendors.
• Build prototypes and proofs-of-concepts to de-risk ideas.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, Compliance, and Operations.
• Drive AI-native architecture decisions (LLM-powered transactions, etc.).
• Act as technical consultant and maintain architectural coherence.
• Set the bar for technical excellence via code/design reviews.
• Mentor engineers and help grow senior staff engineers.
