Senior Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Remote)

GEICO is seeking experienced Finance Data Specialists to support the development of a Finance data lake/mart. This role involves coaching business teams and technologists, partnering with engineering teams to establish a new Finance Data Mart, and leveraging strong Finance Systems expertise to facilitate data capture, transformation, and utilization aligned with business goals.

The Senior Staff Engineer, Finance Data Specialist will report to the Senior Director of Finance Technologies and focus on building and maintaining a Finance Data repository to support FP&A processes, analytics, and broader Finance data needs. The role involves working with Finance and Technology leaders to strategize and implement a comprehensive Finance Data Mart/Lake, serving as a central, reconciled source of financial data for analytics and reporting.

This position requires deep experience in Finance Systems across multiple ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, PeopleSoft), with prior Financial Services Industry experience. The candidate should possess extensive knowledge of ERP and Data Warehouse systems, along with the ability to support FP&A applications and data lakes.

Responsibilities

• Utilize functional and technical expertise to develop solutions supporting current and future departmental needs.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration across the software development lifecycle.
• Facilitate design sessions ensuring system efficiency and alignment with business expectations.
• Partner with Finance leaders to develop a vision and roadmap for the Finance Data Lake.
• Design, develop, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions using ETL/ELT tools like Informatica, DBT, etc.
• Work with cloud data solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift, Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi.
• Support the development and implementation of Revenue and Expense analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with business sponsors to align project roadmaps with strategic objectives.
• Maintain strong control and governance frameworks for SOX and audit compliance.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and share best practices.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in Finance Systems with ERP solutions (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP).
• 5+ years supporting FP&A applications and data warehouses.
• Expertise in Dimensional Data Modeling, SQL, and ETL/ELT tools.
• Experience supporting Financials via major vendors as a lead or architect.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep finance domain expertise and experience working with senior finance leaders.
• Knowledge of FP&A processes, Revenue/Expense analytics, and reporting tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Strong understanding of accounting processes and project management best practices.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.

Salary & Benefits
