FPA is currently seeking a full-time Senior Staff Engineer in our Bridge department at our Boston, MA office. As part of our team, you will operate in a fast-paced, competitive environment, supporting ongoing activities and pursuits with detail-oriented and organized support. Core Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the design and analysis of bridge structures, including conceptual design, detailed design, and load-rating analysis using industry-standard software and methods.
  • Manage bridge design projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and in compliance with client specifications, codes, and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support innovative design solutions that meet project objectives.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to meet their needs and provide technical support throughout project phases.
  • Review design calculations, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and compliance.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated bridge solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and regulations to ensure designs are innovative and compliant.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; a Master’s in Structural or Bridge Engineering is a plus.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in bridge design, focusing on transportation infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in bridge design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, LARSA) and knowledge of AASHTO, local, and international standards.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
