Job summary

Engg in California is seeking a Sr Staff Engineer at the intersection of AI inference and storage systems. You will profile AI workloads, map data placement on flash/SSD, and drive architecture decisions across inference, platform, and hardware teams.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep systems knowledge of the Linux storage stack, NVMe, and modern inference stacks, with a track record of delivering performance and cost improvements through benchmarking and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in systems, storage, or ML-systems software.
• Proven technical leadership across teams and projects.
• Deep knowledge of Linux storage stack (block layer, I/O scheduling, NVMe).
• Fluent in Python and a systems language (C/C++, Rust, or Go).

Responsibilities

• Own AI workload characterization and data-placement decisions.
• Lead deep-dive performance analysis across inference runtime and storage stack.
• Mentor engineers and set architectural direction across orgs.
• Collaborate with product, hardware, and research teams to deploy architectures.
