Stripe is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for the Merchant Experience team to lead and shape merchant-facing experiences across Stripe. The role focuses on quality, performance, and AI integration to transform how merchants interact with Stripe products.

You will guide 50+ engineers, steer complex cross-team projects, and drive architectural decisions that improve speed and reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• Senior Staff role overseeing 4–6 teams and broad product portfolio
• Experience shipping large-scale web apps for hundreds of thousands of users
• Proven track record leading cross-functional engineering projects
• Deep expertise in modern frontend and full-stack development
• Ability to drive measurable improvements in quality and performance
• Ability to influence direction across multiple teams without formal authority
• Excellent communication to engineers, leaders, and executives

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy for merchant-facing experiences across Stripe, with a focus on quality, performance, and AI integration
• Lead design and delivery of complex, cross-team projects that improve reliability and speed
• Champion a quality-first engineering culture with standards, tooling, and processes
• Drive performance as a product feature and own the technical approach for the Dashboard
• Explore AI-driven merchant UX and prototype new interaction paradigms
• Build platforms and abstractions to raise engineer productivity
• Collaborate with Product, Design, AI/ML, and infrastructure to map roadmap
• Mentor engineers and cultivate high standards across Stripe
