Job summary

Landing Point, a leading financial services company in the New York area, seeks a Senior Staff Engineer to lead the Document Shared Services team and drive modernization of the document management platform used for loan origination and servicing.

You will own the delivery plan for WebSphere retirement and Axway migration, migrate workloads to containerized runtimes on Kubernetes/OpenShift, remove WebSphere dependencies, and establish monitoring, CI/CD, IaC, and production readiness across

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including several years leading teams responsible for business-critical production systems.
• Experience leading at least one platform retirement or major migration from scoping through cutover and decommissioning without disrupting the business.
• Java: Deep expertise, including IBM WebSphere Application Server or another Java EE application server, and experience migrating workloads to Spring Boot, Open Liberty, Quarkus, or similar runtimes on Kubernetes.
• TypeScript and Node.js: Working proficiency in developing and supporting services.
• Managed File Transfer: Hands-on experience with Axway SecureTransport/B2Bi or a comparable platform.
• OpenShift/Kubernetes: Experience building and operating containerized workloads.
• AWS: Hands-on experience with S3, IAM, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Lambda, and AWS Transfer Family.
• Messaging: Experience with Kafka and IBM MQ.
• APIs and Databases: Strong experience with GraphQL, REST API design, and PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Lead an established engineering team while maintaining delivery momentum.
• Own the delivery plan for the WebSphere retirement and Axway replacement programs, including scope, sequencing, milestones, and exit criteria.
• Communicate progress, dependencies, and risks to DSS Engineering leadership.
• Plan phased cutovers with coexistence strategies, production validation, and tested rollback procedures to protect business continuity.
• Inventory Java applications and services hosted on IBM WebSphere Application Server and determine whether to migrate, refactor, or retire each workload.
• Migrate retained workloads to containerized runtimes on OpenShift, such as Spring Boot, Open Liberty, or Quarkus.
• Remove WebSphere-specific dependencies and modernize build and deployment pipelines.
• Catalog inbound and outbound file flows and expand the DSS file ingestion service on OpenShift and AWS.
• Define patterns for services running on OpenShift and integrating with AWS.
• Establish service-level objectives for critical flows supporting loan origination and servicing.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, graceful degradation, and tested failover.
• Set standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and iterative delivery.
• Review designs and code, mentor engineers, and promote cloud-native practices.

Compensation
