Job summary

Renesas Electronics in Austin, TX seeks a Sr Staff Electrical Engineer on the PCP team to architect, design, and maintain firmware for power ICs used in high‑end computing platforms. You will work from low level circuits to system level design and drive projects through to high‑volume manufacturing.

The role emphasizes embedded firmware in C and assembly, RTL collaboration, RTOS concepts, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of firmware development on custom SOCs in pre/post silicon environments.
• BS/MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field.
• Expertise in embedded firmware development in C and assembly.
• Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle and version control.
• Experience with interrupt, memory and performance optimization for real-time apps.
• Understanding of state machines, RTOS concepts, and Verilog RTL collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and verify embedded firmware for digital PWM voltage regulators.
• Write firmware patches to implement new features or hardware workarounds.
• Collaborate with hardware design to define interfaces based on requirements.
• Write specifications to document firmware architecture and implementation.
• Work with validation to bring up silicon and debug issues.
• Develop automated tests to validate firmware on lab benches.
