Job summary

Wonder is seeking a Senior Staff Data Scientist in New York to shape strategic applied data science, mentor teams, and collaborate with engineering, product, and business leaders on scalable ML and analytics systems.

You will identify high-leverage opportunities across marketplace efficiency, customer experience, ETA accuracy, and pricing strategies, building robust causal inference and experimentation frameworks to drive business impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years industry experience with MS or 6+ years with PhD in a quantitative field.
• Proven experience applying data science and ML to complex business problems.
• Deep expertise in causal inference, experimentation, and statistical modeling.
• Strong intuition for business and product trade-offs.
• Proficiency in Python, data analysis, visualization, and scalable, production-ready code.

Responsibilities

• Define principles, frameworks, and best practices for data science, experimentation, and measurement.
• Mentor and coach a growing team of Data Scientists and contribute to career development.
• Lead exploration of interconnected marketplace systems and feedback loops affecting business performance.
• Develop causal inference and experimentation frameworks to quantify product and policy impact.
• Partner with engineering to drive data platform, feature pipelines, modeling APIs, and production ML services.
• Define and implement robust experimentation strategies for high-noise environments.
• Champion business-impact-driven data science across product, engineering, operations, and analytics.
