Grubhub Inc. (via Wonder Data Science) seeks a Senior Staff Data Scientist to shape strategic data science and machine learning across our marketplace, customer experience, and operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience with MS or 6+ years with PhD in Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, CS, Data Science, ML, or related quantitative field.
• Proven experience applying data science and ML to complex business problems (marketplace optimization, forecasting, pricing, experimentation).
• Deep expertise in causal inference, experimentation, and statistical modeling (A/B testing, DiD, IV, synthetic controls).
• Strong intuition for business and product trade-offs (experience vs efficiency, cost vs quality).
• Proficiency in Python, data analysis, visualization, and production-ready code.

Responsibilities

• Define and shape strategic data science initiatives for Wonder’s marketplace and product.
• Mentor and coach data scientists; drive technical excellence across the team.
• Lead causal inference and experimentation frameworks to move business metrics.
• Partner with engineering on architecture, deployment, and monitoring of production ML systems.
• Communicate insights to product and business leaders to influence decisions.
