Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Data Engineering Team.

You will lead technical design and implementation across multiple scrum teams, building data frameworks, ingestion pipelines, and AI-enhanced data products using AWS, GCP, Spark, Flink, and related technologies. The role emphasizes hands-on development (70–85%), with no direct reports, and collaboration with product managers, designers, and data scientists to validate hypotheses through rapid experimentation.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 9+ years of software engineering experience with a strong data engineering background.
• Expertise in Java (Spring/Springboot) and Scala for Spark streaming/applications, or other JVM languages.
• 5+ years of strong SQL, XML, JSON, YAML; very strong Python and Linux.
• Knowledge of AI/ML, Generative AI, and growth-focused AI/ML applications.
• Experience with GenAI tools such as Cursor and Windsurf to accelerate development.
• Expertise with Docker, Spark, Scala, Jupyter Notebook, Databricks Notebooks, Kubernetes, SageMaker.
• Strong cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP), with AWS specifics.
• Data warehousing and analytics architecture; large data volumes and data visualization.
• 5+ years with big data tech: Hive, Hadoop, Kafka, columnar DBs, Graph DBs; experience with streaming (Spark Streaming, Flink).
• Experience with NoSQL datastores (DynamoDB, HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB).
• Excellent communication and ability to influence at all levels.
• Strategic mindset; influence team/platform strategy for business impact.
• Willingness to explore new areas and drive immediate impact.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across multiple teams to design and implement data products.
• Drive end-to-end system design using cloud platforms and big data tools.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product teams.
• Influence architecture and product direction across multiple scrum teams (10–35 engineers).
