Baltimore Aircoil Company, Inc. seeks a Senior Staff Controls Engineer to lead NPI controls projects, translating product requirements into robust software and hardware designs that meet performance, quality, and cost targets for BAC units and cloud data interactions.

The role involves mentoring teams, defining testing strategies, and ensuring compliance with global codes while partnering with vendors and product teams to accelerate development and deliver robust control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree or P.E. a plus.
• 8+ years of engineering with technical project management and 2+ years in NPD.
• 5+ years in electro-mechanical control systems; HVAC experience preferred.
• Proficiency in controls/software specification writing, test plans and execution.
• Familiar with C/C++, Structured Text, PLC languages; Modicon/Beckhoff/Carel preferred.
• Familiar with BACNet and Modbus for BMS integration.
• Microsoft Office, VBA, AutoCAD; GitHub experience a plus.
• Experience with laboratory testing, instrumentation, measurement techniques.

Responsibilities

• Participate in NPI teams as Controls lead and provide technical support.
• Translate requirements into controls software/hardware designs and docs.
• Propose optimum controls solutions per NPI specs.
• Design systems to control fans, pumps, valves, sensors and cloud data links.
• Develop verification/validation plan and execute it.
• Create panel drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and configurator with teams.
• Evaluate vendors and proposals to meet target cost/quality.
• Lead cross-functional discussions on controls decisions.
• Define best practice rules for customer software development and document them.
• Establish testing procedures and pass criteria; analyze test data.
• Promote standardization for software development and testing on controls systems.
• Identify improvements for cost-out and faster development.
• Write ECNs for controls design/software changes.
• Support field issues; satisfy customer expectations.
• Deliver technical training on controls topics.
• Propose controls strategy and implementation plans to leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve development velocity and quality.
• Keep current with IEC, NEC, UL, FM and other electrical codes globally.
