About the Role

This Senior Staff Attorney position is an in-house, remote role handling Tort/Liability defense and Workers’ Compensation matters. It requires extensive experience and strong knowledge of Pennsylvania civil litigation, including handling cases at the Common Pleas level through appellate courts, and workers’ compensation cases at various levels such as the judicial level, PA Appeal Board, and Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court.

Responsibilities
  1. Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct research, and develop legal strategies.
  2. Independently create and present defense strategies.
  3. Prepare pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs.
  4. Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal results.
  5. Communicate effectively with clients, courts, witnesses, and counsel.
  6. Manage cases efficiently from start to finish.
  7. Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials and hearings.
  8. Research, draft, and argue appellate briefs.
  9. Participate in team meetings and provide training to junior staff.
  10. Participate in claims reviews and continuing legal education.
Qualifications
  1. At least 5 years of legal experience in tort defense and workers’ compensation cases.
  2. JD from an accredited law school and Pennsylvania license.
  3. First-chair jury trial experience is required.
  4. Strong organizational, research, and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  6. Proficiency with MS Office, Lexis Nexis, and ability to quickly learn new software.
Additional Information

This remote position is based in Western Pennsylvania but requires travel within the state, especially around Western Pennsylvania. Reliable high-speed internet is necessary, with specific technical requirements outlined.

Compensation

The annualized base pay range is $128,000 - $192,000, depending on experience and performance. Compensation may include bonuses and incentives.
