Job summary

The Commonwealth of Kentucky seeks a Staff Attorney III to join the Office of Legal Services in the Cabinet for Health & Family Services. The role will require filing legal documents, conducting litigation in court and administrative hearings, and delivering researched counsel for agency employees. Travel across regions is expected; telecommuting may be authorized.

Two years of licensed practice are required, with potential LL.M. substitution.

Qualifications

• Must have two years experience as a licensed attorney in the practice of law.
• A Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) will substitute for one year of the required experience.
• Must be admitted to practice law and in good standing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Responsibilities

• Draft legal documents, litigation in court, and at administrative hearings.
• Legal research and providing legal advice to employees of the Cabinet.
• Draft correspondence and/or communicate verbally with authorized parties regarding findings and resolution of complaints.
• Assist with open record requests and perform other duties as assigned.
