The Abate-Shen laboratory in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Senior Staff Associate I to provide research support for the development and analyses of cancer models.

Qualifications

Job description

The Abate-Shen laboratory in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Senior Staff Associate I to provide research support for the development and analyses of models of cancer. This new position will develop human models of cancer. This will entail coordinating with clinical faculty to obtain patient samples and to develop patient derived organoid and xenograft models.

$80,000-$90,000 a year

This is an academic affairs position.

Functional Knowledge
  • Must have extensive laboratory experience and functional knowledge of the development and analyses of human models of cancer. Experience with the collection of human patient data and samples is preferred - 30%
Problem Solving
  • Works with a team of lab members and clinicians to collect patient samples and generate models - 10%
Decision Making/Autonomy
  • Carries out research projects with limited PI supervision both collaboratively and independently - 10%
Technical Expertise
  • Must have extensive technical expertise in analyses of human models of cancer. Knowledge and/or experience in dealing with patients is strongly preferred - 30%
Communication
  • Must have excellent written communication skills, particularly the ability to clearly record data in written form or on a computer. Must be able to communicate with patients to obtain patient consents - 20%
