Job summary

Urban Strategies, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting, financial statement preparation, forecasting and budgeting for our nonprofit organization in a corporate setting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in accounting and at least three years of related experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software; experience with Blackbaud, Concur, and ADP is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• At least three years of related experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and accounting software.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with Blackbaud, Concur, and ADP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cost accounting and related duties for the organization.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements.
• Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly.
• Verifies ledger coding on payables; sets up new vendor accounts.
• Verifies payment of invoices and ensures charges to the correct accounts.
• Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, and other financial accounts.
• Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary documents for annual audit.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Performs organizational reconciliations.
• Utilizes the Result Count framework in daily accounting activities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
