Job summary

Urban Dove Team Charter is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting and financial operations under supervision. The role involves maintaining records, reconciliations, journal entries, grant tracking, and supporting monthly and year-end close efforts.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in nonprofit accounting, strong Excel/MS Office skills, and a collaborative mindset to work with the Finance Team and Director of Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 1–3 years in a related accounting role.
• Experience in not-for-profit.
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills.
• Familiarity with audit processes.
• Analytical with problem-solving capabilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Detail-oriented, accurate, and able to multitask.
• Collaborative team player.
• Experience collaborating with the Director of Finance and leading or guiding a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and balance the organization's automated accounting platform.
• Support GAAP compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare monthly consolidated financial reports and schedules.
• Record accounting transactions to ensure accurate reporting.
• Assist with account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries for review and approval.
• Assist with tracking grant funding and allocation of federal grants.
• Maintain schedules for restricted and unrestricted grants.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Assist with annual audits by compiling required documentation.
