Job summary

The Aspen Institute is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to manage complex financial reconciliations, analyze balance sheet activity, and oversee endowment transactions. This role supervises the Finance Associate and requires nonprofit accounting experience with strong attention to detail.

The position reports to the General Ledger Manager and offers a salary between $89,100 and $113,900 with a blended in-person/remote work policy, requiring 40% in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and 5+ years nonprofit accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Minimum of 1 year direct supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Calculate and record overhead allocations and related entries.
• Track and post journal entries for capital leases.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and post monthly operating results and balance sheet entries.
• Supervise the Finance Associate and provide guidance.
