Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant for a construction-focused role in Columbus, Ohio. You will support month-end close, prepare journal entries, and assist with job costing and WIP scheduling to track project expenditures.

Collaborating with project managers and leadership, you will ensure GAAP compliance and contribute to accurate financial reporting on active and upcoming construction projects. A strong Excel skill set is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
3–5+ years of accounting experience, construction industry preferred.
Exposure to job costing or project-based accounting strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Advanced Excel skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with both accounting and operations teams.

Responsibilities

Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
Assist with job costing and tracking project expenses.
Maintain and update WIP schedules and support percentage-of-completion accounting.
Partner with project managers to monitor budgets and project performance.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Assist with audit preparation and documentation.
Identify and support process improvements within the accounting function.
