Job summary

ACNB Bank in Gettysburg, PA, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to strengthen daily accounting operations, support month-end close, and ensure our financial records are complete, accurate, and GAAP-compliant with SOX controls.

You will own high‑risk and complex accounting activities, post journal entries, run reconciliations, and provide reliable financial information to leaders, auditors, regulators, and internal partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
• At least five years of accounting experience in the banking industry.
• Strong GAAP knowledge for financial institutions.
• Working knowledge of banking regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to build productive cross‑functional relationships.
• Preferred: seven+ years banking accounting; CPA licensure; familiarity with Fiserv products.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, derive, and post accurate daily general ledger entries within deadlines.
• Complete and review reconciliations for GL accounts and other complex items.
• Support monthly close, consolidating records and validating documentation.
• Review reconciliations and provide follow-up where needed.
• Maintain accounting for assets, amortization, prepaid expenses, and related entries.
• Provide information for internal/external audits and regulatory requests.
• Strengthen internal controls to comply with SOX and policies.
• Collaborate with leadership to manage GL accounts and cost centers.
