Job summary

CFS is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join the South Bend, Indiana team onsite. The ideal candidate will bring a public accounting background with a solid audit foundation and be ready to advance their accounting career in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Approximately 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and audit work, are required along with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA progress is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Audit experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or progress toward CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Perform audit and accounting procedures while ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Analyze financial information and identify discrepancies or areas requiring additional investigation.
• Prepare workpapers and documentation supporting financial statements and audit engagements.
• Work directly with clients to gather financial information and resolve accounting questions.
• Assist with tax and audit-related projects as needed.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records.
• Support senior team members and management with special projects and financial analysis.
• Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams regarding deadlines, findings, and accounting issues.
