Job description

Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire | $70,000–$85,000

We are looking for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join the finance team at a top Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team and play an important role in supporting the organization’s day-to-day financial operations.

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and audit support. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of their work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day general ledger and accounting activities
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with the monthly and year-end close processes
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Review accounts and investigate discrepancies
