Job summary

CFS is seeking a Senior Accountant to strengthen general ledger accounting, financial reporting, audits, and process improvements in a growing organization.

The role focuses on GAAP and governmental accounting practices, with responsibility for close processes, financial analyses, and cross-department collaboration. A strong background in government administration is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or audit.
  • Experience with detailed financial analysis and large data sets.
  • Government Administration experience.
  • Education or government background strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting practices, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are accurate and complete.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with financial reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Analyze revenue, expenditures, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Perform system balancing activities and resolve discrepancies.
  • Provide accounting guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with audits and prepare supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Provide training and technical assistance on accounting procedures and financial systems.
  • Participate in financial system testing, upgrades, and implementation activities.
  • Collaborate with departments to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.
