The Senior Accountant also provides day-to-day guidance to the Staff Accountant and Accounting Assistant and drives process improvement, including close-management automation in FloQast. The position works across SSG and its affiliated entities: general ledger, inventory, cash, fixed assets, financial reporting, audit support, and store accounting.

Key Responsibilities
Month-end close and general ledger
  • Coordinate assigned portions of the monthly close, ensuring reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules are completed on time.
  • Prepare recurring, adjusting, and reclassifying journal entries.
  • Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, inventory, accruals, reimbursements, prepaid expenses, and freight.
  • Support the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the department, including financial reports and budget review and analysis.
  • Provide detailed analyses and explanations of transactions, and prepare documentation for management as needed.
Fixed assets
  • Own the monthly fixed asset reconciliation and reporting process: additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation analysis, and capital expenditure activity.
  • Present results to the Accounting Manager, CFO, and IT Director.

  • Perform monthly credit card expense reconciliations, and review and post expense reports submitted through the expense reporting system.
Store and vendor support
  • Serve as the accounting liaison for store locations on invoice corrections, deposit variances, and other day-to-day issues.
  • Work with vendors to resolve billing inquiries and research discrepancies.
Audit, tax, and insurance
  • Prepare and organize PBC (Prepared by Client) schedules and supporting documentation for the annual financial audit. Escalate auditor questions to the Accounting Manager, who leads all auditor communications.
  • Prepare annual personal property tax reporting and the related monthly accruals.
  • Assist with sales tax setup and management for all related entities.
  • Support annual insurance renewals by compiling documentation, coordinating with brokers and insurers, and submitting materials to the Accounting Manager for review and approval.
Leadership and process improvement
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Staff Accountant and Accounting Assistant.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and improve reporting accuracy.
Other duties
