The role supports month-end close, fixed assets, freight accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting for a nationwide operation from the Philadelphia area.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of GAAP within a high-volume distribution environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 3-5+ years of accounting experience.
• Experience in distribution, manufacturing or similar industry preferred.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.
• Perform freight accounting, including expense analysis and reconciliations.
• Manage fixed assets lifecycle, additions, disposals and depreciation.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and resolve variances.
• Support month-end close and provide financial reporting for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with operations, logistics, tax and real estate teams.

This opportunity is ideal for a strong Staff Accountant or newly promoted Senior Accountant looking to expand their responsibilities within a large, privately held distribution organization. Reporting to the Accounting leadership team, this position will play a key role in supporting month-end close, fixed asset accounting, freight accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting for a nationwide operation.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of accounting principles within a high-volume distribution environment. This role offers excellent exposure to operational accounting and opportunities for professional growth.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare journal entries including accruals, prepaids, and reclasses
• Perform freight accounting, including expense analysis, accruals, reconciliations and reporting
• Manage and maintain fixed asset lifecycle, including additions, disposals and depreciation
• Assure proper application of capitalization policies
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and resolve variances
• Support and progressively take ownership of the month-end-close process
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
• Analyze P&L and balance sheet account and explain fluctuations
• Assist with reporting packages for internal stakeholders
• Identify trends and provide insight
• Collaborate with teams across operations, logistics, tax and real estate
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency
