Job summary

Persons Services Corporation, a dynamic construction firm with national reach, seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to join the Accounting team in Mobile, AL. The role focuses on maintaining financial accuracy, supporting rapid growth, and delivering detailed financial analysis.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in accounting/finance, 4+ years in accounting (preferably construction), strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel with SAGE experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (SAGE preferred).
• Attention to detail and accuracy with numerical data.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for various accounting transactions in GAAP compliance.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations including bank statements, vendor accounts, and general ledger.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Record and file Sales & Use Tax.
• Review project costs and coordinate with project teams for accuracy.
• Conduct regular reconciliations of vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including accruals and adjusting entries.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and analyses for management decision-making.
• Assist with audit preparations and provide supporting documentation as required.

Key Responsibilities
