Job description

Under the direction of VP Finance, the Sr Staff Accountant will be responsible for many critical accounting functions, including leading the monthly closing process, preparing financial reports with supporting schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations. Must have an aptitude for systems and drive a culture of continuous improvements in the accounting function to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall performance of the Finance group. Must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively and work well cross functionally across the organization.

Essential Functions and Main Duties

  • Assumes responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of assigned accounting functions
    • Leads monthly and year-end close process by following close checklist, including preparation and posting of adjusting journal entries
    • Reconciles balance sheet accounts and assists with detail schedule maintenance
    • Responsible for monthly gross profit analysis and reporting
    • Responsible for monthly deferred revenue reconciliation
    • Collaborates with other departments for revenue planning and forecast
    • Participates in internal and external audit processes, including responding to audit queries
    • Supports annual budgeting process
    • Responsible for analyzing monthly operating expenses for consistency and timing; researches variances and corrects if necessary prior to close
    • Prepares monthly financial statements reports
    • Responsible for miscellaneous tax reporting /compliance
    • Manages fixed assets and depreciation schedules
    • Prepares monthly intercompany activity statements
    • Identifies inefficiencies and proposes improvements to accounting processes or systems
    • Supports system upgrades or implementations
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
    • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained
    • Completes special projects as assigned
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes
    • Assists in implementing and monitoring internal controls
    • Ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time based on business need

Qualifications

Education / Certification / Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline; if applicable: relevant education and experience accepted in lieu of degree
  • 2+ years of experience with general ledger accounting in a corporate environment
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Level and compensation depend on location, experience, education and skills
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures including full accounting cycle and account reconciliations
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred
  • Organized, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, and to receive and understand verbal and written instructions in English
  • Able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment

Compensation

The anticipated range for this position is $72,000 to $102,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, experience and location.

Working Conditions

Schedule: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, unless otherwise stated by the department manager. Holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the organization or department and are subject to change at any time at the Company’s discretion.

Physical: Generally, may require some reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying up to 20 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, and color vision. More specific details may be provided as needed or requested.

Travel: Minimal
