Overview

Opportunity: Senior Staff Accountant

Manage accounting activities for a group of hotels, including preparing journal entries, detailed reports, account reconciliations, and other accounting functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Prepare and review ledger account reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepaid and other assets, liabilities, and credit cards.
  2. Monitor coding to ensure accuracy.
  3. Adhere to internal financial controls as directed by the Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley narratives, including sales journal verifications, bank, general ledger, and subsidiary ledger account reconciliations, revenue testing, and other procedures.
  4. Prepare and/or review general ledger entries and present financial reports monthly.
  5. Assist in preparing various schedules and supporting documents as required.
  6. Support other accounting team activities, communicating effectively with team members and property-level associates.
  7. Follow sustainability guidelines related to HHM’s EarthView program.
  8. Practice safe work habits.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements

  1. Formal training in accounting is required.
  2. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business is preferred.
  3. Previous hospitality-related experience is preferred.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, is required.
  5. Ability to exercise judgment independently in the absence of the controller or assistant controller.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment and Context

  1. Sitting for extended periods and using hands and fingers to operate computers and keyboards.
  2. Extended work hours and work on holidays or weekends may be required to meet deadlines.
