Primary Purpose
Develops complex financial, accounting, or cost reports, reviews complex accounting documents, and provides assistance to ensure timely and accurate accounting reporting and documentation for the assigned area.
Minimum Specifications
Education
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance, with at least eighteen hours of accounting courses.
Experience
- Must have six (6) years of financial or accounting experience.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
- May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
Skills or Special Abilities
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software on a personal computer.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Knowledge of the computer system supporting their function.
- Ability to follow through on problems for resolution and possess good oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Develops complex financial, accounting, or cost reports, researches records and other data, and performs analysis or reconciliations to produce accurate, complete, and timely accounting reports.
- Reviews complex documents, notes changes, makes corrections or journal entries, and forwards to appropriate parties to ensure accurate documentation of accounting statistics and reports.
- Prepares schedules for account analysis, transfers budgeted monies between cost centers, reconciles reports, and maintains spreadsheets for accurate budgets.
- Assists departments and vendors to resolve accounting issues and supports budget preparation, forecasting, and maintenance, acting as a liaison between departments/vendors and the accounting function.
- Performs and coordinates special projects, makes recommendations, and formulates policies and procedures to support accounting documentation. May guide less experienced staff.
- Engages in professional growth through seminars, workshops, and reading, applying new knowledge to work practices.
- Maintains accounts per GAAP, GASB, and FASB standards, and develops financial statements meeting audit and management needs.
