Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to keep our brokerage platform reliable and observable as we scale. You will work across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, observability, messaging, and data layers, with a focus on PostgreSQL reliability.

You will grow into deeper ownership of database reliability while remaining a well‑rounded SRE across the stack. A strong background in Go or Python and Linux fundamentals is expected.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in SRE, DevOps, or backend with production ops ownership.
• Hands-on with Kubernetes and GitOps workflows.
• Strong production PostgreSQL knowledge and safe online migrations.
• Cloud networking basics and observability proficiency.
• Go or Python coding ability and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Operate production day-to-day: oncall, incidents, postmortems.
• Own reliability practice: define SLIs/SLOs and budgets.
• Strengthen observability across metrics, logs, traces, and alerts.
• Ship infrastructure via code for cloud and Kubernetes workloads.
• Look after PostgreSQL performance, migrations, HA/DR, CDC pipelines.
• Mentor engineers on reliability and database fundamentals.
