Job summary

Optimum is seeking a Network SRE II with a reliability mindset to join our infrastructure team in Bethpage, NY. This hands-on role focuses on load balancing with F5 BIG-IP, VIP provisioning, and automation.

You will move from manual configurations to API-driven workflows using Python, Ansible, and REST APIs, while tuning observability and ensuring zero-downtime maintenance. This is a high-impact role shaping the reliability of our network services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years' of relevant experience.
• F5 Fluency: Strong hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP/BIG-IQ; comfortable with GUI and tmsh.
• Fundamentals of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, and SSL/TLS management.
• Troubleshooting with ping, traceroute, tcpdump/Wireshark, and F5 logging.

Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot load balancing infrastructure focusing on F5 BIG-IP LTM/GTM/DNS.
• Act as the first line of defense for complex application delivery issues; investigate VIP health and latency issues.
• Automate VIP creation, pool management, and network auditing with Python, Ansible, REST APIs.
• Improve observability by tuning monitoring tools and F5 telemetry.
• Plan and execute maintenance windows with zero downtime.
