Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Staff ML Platform Engineer to lead end-to-end ML platform work across training, serving, and observability on the Data & ML Platform team. You will shape the paved-road CI/CD spine, model-workflow scaffolding, and Databricks Asset Bundles to enable Data Science teams to move from config to production efficiently.

You will architect LLM-endpoint serving across providers (Databricks, AWS, Snowflake) and self-hosted deployments, optimize latency and costs, and own tooling for

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years designing, evolving, and operating enterprise-scale ML platforms in production
• Hands-on production experience with Databricks and/or Amazon SageMaker
• Fluency in Java and Python with depth in Apache Spark
• Experience with AWS networking, IAM, GPU compute
• Proficiency with Terraform, containers, Kubernetes, and GitHub CI/CD for ML workloads
• Experience serving LLMs in production including cost management and evaluation harnesses
• AI-native working style with tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot
• Strong written and verbal communication, especially async in remote settings

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction across ML training, serving, and observability
• Own and evolve paved-road framework for CI/CD, model-workflow, and Databricks Asset Bundles
• Lead architecture for LLM-endpoint serving across providers and self-hosted deployments
• Own standards and tooling for MLflow, model registry, and training image supply chain
• Collaborate with Data & ML Platform teammates to present a cohesive ML platform
• Input to vendor and platform selection decisions across model providers and tooling
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute hands-on code and IaC
