Job summary

Agadia, based in Parsippany, NJ, seeks a Senior SQL Server DBA to manage enterprise SQL Server environments, focusing on health, performance, availability, and security. The role is about 70% production/system DBA and 30% development DBA, with emphasis on proactive administration and automation.

The candidate will monitor, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server, implement HA/DR, perform backups/restores, and optimize queries and procedures. On-site presence in Parsippany is required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of Microsoft SQL Server administration experience
• Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups, Windows Failover Clustering, HA, and DR
• Backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery expertise
• Strong SQL Server performance tuning and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with execution plans, Query Store, wait statistics, and indexing
• Strong T-SQL skills including review and optimization of stored procedures and queries
• Experience with SQL Sentry, SolarWinds DPA, Redgate or similar tools
• Experience with database growth monitoring and capacity planning
• Experience with SQL Server security, auditing, and access management
• PowerShell or scripting for DBA automation

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage SQL Server environments across production and non-production
• Proactively monitor CPU, memory, storage, I/O, growth, TempDB, backups, and jobs
• Perform capacity planning and forecast growth
• Build and maintain database health, performance, and capacity dashboards
• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server environments
• Manage Always On Availability Groups, Windows Clustering, HA, and DR
• Maintain and validate backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
• Troubleshoot production database issues and perform root cause analysis
• Perform query, stored procedure, and performance tuning
• Use tools like SQL Sentry, SolarWinds DPA, Redgate, Query Store, Extended Events for issues
• Maintain indexing and statistics strategies
• Administer database security, permissions, encryption, auditing
• Review code and schema changes
• Build T-SQL, PowerShell, or other automation for monitoring and maintenance
• Support SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI where needed
• Maintain standards, runbooks, and documentation
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate with other teams
