Job summary

Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server & Azure Data Platform) to manage SQL Server 2016–2025 and Azure data platforms, with PostgreSQL exposure. This role covers on-call support, HA/DR design, migrations, and platform automation.

The ideal candidate will optimize performance, implement cloud-based solutions, and collaborate with cloud engineering and security teams to meet RTO/RPO objectives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of SQL Server administration experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise administering SQL Server 2016 through SQL Server 2025.
• Hands-on experience with: Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
• Advanced troubleshooting across database, OS, storage, and network layers.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Experience with database monitoring and observability platforms.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, and security principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer SQL Server environments from SQL Server 2016 through 2025 and Azure-resident platforms.
• Provide L3 operational support and act as senior escalation resource for complex incidents.
• Ensure availability, reliability, performance, and recoverability for critical systems.
• Manage lifecycle activities including installation, patching, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for production databases.
• Design and support High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and resiliency solutions.
