Job summary

Bloomberg L.P. is seeking a Senior SQL & Hosted Services Engineer in New York to maintain and enhance Bloomberg's globally distributed SQL databases and hosting platforms.

You will drive reliability, automation, and operational excellence across compute, storage, and virtualization layers that support critical internal applications. You will collaborate across engineering disciplines to implement standards, improve monitoring, and scale services with modern tooling.

Qualifications

• The candidate has a Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or equivalent.
• 4+ years designing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure for high availability.
• Solid knowledge of virtualization, storage, networking, and AD/DNS/DHCP basics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve Bloomberg's distributed SQL databases and hosting platforms.
• Improve reliability, automate processes, and enhance service availability.
• Develop operational standards, metrics, and runbooks.
• Contribute to platform lifecycle improvements for easy operation and monitoring.
• Support monitoring, telemetry, and health reporting to reduce risk.
