Job summary

ZealHire Inc. in Mechanicsville, VA seeks a Microservices Technical Lead (SQL/.NET) to drive the tolling modernization program.

You will provide functional leadership, hands-on SQL and .NET engineering, and work with the PM/Scrum Master to decompose a monolithic database into microservice–aligned schemas. This role requires deep collaboration with a veteran SME and cross‑team partners, building migration logic and data pipelines with Azure Data Factory, and guiding engineering talent through

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience
• 7+ years of SQL Server development
• 5+ years of .NET/C# backend development
• 3–5 years of technical lead experience
• 3+ years of modernization or migration projects
• 3+ years of experience with Azure SQL on IaaS VM environments
• 3+ years of experience building ADF pipelines and ETL workloads
• 3+ years supporting delivery and agile teams

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design discussions for microservices and API integration
• Perform hands-on SQL engineering including schema modernization and performance tuning
• Contribute to .NET API development and data access patterns
• Mentor senior engineers and guide technical teams
• Collaborate with PM/Scrum Master to support project execution and decisions
• Work with SME for domain alignment and technical guidance
• Build migration logic and data pipelines using Azure Data Factory
• Ensure modernization aligns with microservice boundaries and timelines
• Participate in code and documentation reviews
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for cohesive delivery
• Support PCI and data-security compliance
