Job summary

Mbi Llc in Virginia is seeking a Microservices Technical Lead (SQL/.NET) to provide functional leadership and hands-on SQL and .NET engineering for our tolling modernization program.

You will decompose the monolithic database into microservice-aligned schemas, lead design discussions, build ADF data pipelines, and collaborate across teams to ensure secure, auditable delivery in a hybrid onsite model (onsite 1 day/week).

Qualifications

• Requires hands-on IT delivery with agile teams.
• Proven tech lead experience guiding engineering teams.
• Experience with modernization or migration projects.
• Hands-on Azure SQL on IaaS in a regulated setting.
• Experience building ADF pipelines for ETL workloads.
• Minimum 10 years IT experience.
• Experience in state government or transportation domains desirable.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture concepts.
• Hybrid onsite work with 1 day per week onsite.

Responsibilities

• Lead collaborative technical design discussions for microservices, database restructuring, and API integration.
• Provide hands-on SQL engineering including schema modernization, procedures, views, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Support .NET API development and data access patterns.
• Guide senior engineers with strong technical leadership.
• Collaborate with PM/Scrum Master to support project execution and decision-making.
• Build migration logic and data pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
• Ensure SQL modernization aligns with microservice boundaries and audit timelines.
• Participate in code and documentation reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (.NET, SQL, BA, QA, DevOps, Cloud) for delivery.
• Operate in delivery workflows and agile components.
