Job summary

RESPEC seeks an experienced Database Developer to support a Minnesota public-sector technology initiative. You will modernize, maintain, and optimize enterprise database solutions across transactional apps, reporting platforms, data conversion, and operational decision‑making.

This hands‑on role involves across the data lifecycle, working with cross‑functional Agile teams in a high‑impact government environment. Remote work is available for this contract opportunity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Design, develop, and maintain stored procedures, views, indexes, and related components.
• ETL development using SSIS, Python, PySpark, or a mix of these technologies.
• Enterprise data migration, cleansing, transformation, and validation.
• Data modeling, database design, and data integration practices.
• Experience supporting production applications and resolving performance or operational issues.
• SSRS and Power BI reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, including stored procedures, views, indexes, SQL scripts, and supporting components.
• Build and optimize ETL pipelines and data workflows using SSIS, SQL Server, Python, and/or PySpark.
• Lead or support large-scale data conversion and migration efforts, including cleansing, transformation, validation, and QA.
• Develop data ingestion and transformation processes across raw, staging, curated, and analytics data layers.
• Create and maintain ER diagrams and data models for reporting needs.
• Build and support reporting solutions using SSRS and Power BI.
• Diagnose and resolve database performance issues; tune queries and workloads.
• Provide production support, including on-call participation as needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders through Agile ceremonies and knowledge transfer activities.
