Job summary

MongoDB is expanding its SQL Engines team to bridge MongoDB’s document model with SQL-based tools and interfaces. The Senior Engineer will work on JDBC/ODBC drivers, Tableau/PowerBI connectors, and a SQL-to-MQL translation engine.

Location options include Austin, NYC, Palo Alto, SF offices or remote in the USA region. We seek engineers with 5+ years in backend systems and a passion for data-driven analytics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, backend focus.
• Proficiency in at least one compiled language; interest in Rust, Java and Go.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, software design/architecture.
• Familiarity with SQL query execution and relational databases; MongoDB familiarity is a plus.
• MSc/PhD in a relevant domain preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize tools to enhance SQL experience with MongoDB.
• Collaborate with product managers and customer teams to align features with user needs.
• Monitor and improve performance, scalability, and reliability of the SQL interface.
