Job summary

SherlockTalent is hiring a Senior SQL Developer to build an internal data intelligence platform in a pure Microsoft/Azure cloud environment. This hands-on role designs and evolves the database layer, owns the schema, and supports AI-driven document ingestion and analytics.

The position is remote, part-time with East Coast daytime meeting times; expect a fast-paced, data-centric environment and close collaboration with the CIO.

Qualifications

• Strong T-SQL skills with DDL, constraints and indexing.
• Azure SQL Database experience in Microsoft/Azure environment.
• Schema design and refactoring in live systems with versioned changes.
• Fluency in normalization patterns: lookup and junction tables.
• Audit trails and import/ETL logging structures design experience.
• Precise DECIMAL handling for pricing/financial data.
• Ability to read technical designs and implement faithfully.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement relational schemas in Azure SQL.
• Refactor and consolidate legacy structures without breaking dependencies.
• Build normalized designs with proper FK constraints and cascades.
• Design audit/import-logging structures for full traceability.
• Support AI-assisted document extraction pipelines and validation states.
• Integrate with Azure Blob Storage for document references.
• Implement data-quality logic: computed aggregates and outlier flags.
• Model role-based data access (edit vs read-only).
