Job summary

University of New Mexico is seeking a Sr. Sponsored Projects Specialist to review proposals, ensure compliance, and manage award setup for research grants and contracts. The role supports multiple campus communities and emphasizes customer service and accuracy.

The candidate will navigate sponsor policies, communicate with PIs and agencies, and help ensure timely submissions with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Degree substitutions allowed on a year-for-year basis.
• Familiarity with compliance policies and research processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review proposals and budgets for sponsor compliance and policy alignment.
• Endorse completed proposals and submit to sponsors.
• Review new awards and amendments for compliance with policies.
• Prepare, process, and finalize award setup.
• Navigate and use electronic research portals to process actions.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable policies from university, state, and federal entities.
• Communicate with sponsors, administration, and PIs to resolve issues.
• Coordinate with compliance offices to meet requirements.
• Review and negotiate sponsored agreements with sponsors.
• Contribute to process improvements for efficiency.
• Provide high level of customer service; perform other duties as assigned.
