Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services (AIS) is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to design and procure custom equipment for DOE projects at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN, and Pantex in Amarillo, TX. You will lead build-to-print packaging, perform advanced analyses, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.

Requirements include 10+ years in design of custom equipment, a Bachelor's in Engineering (ABET-accredited), and DOE clearance or ability to obtain one.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing custom mechanical equipment.
• 15–20 years total engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• Active DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Create design and procurement documents for specialty equipment and first-of-a-kind systems.
• Perform machine design calculations, including FEM, structural and heat transfer analyses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop build-to-print packages and procurement specs.
• Lead multi-discipline teams spanning mechanical, electrical, instrumentation/controls, HVAC, piping and welding.
