Job Description
The Senior Specialist, Source-to-Contract, IT will ensure that the North America GS (Global Services) Procurement Source-to-Contract organization delivers results in support of the IT categories within Global Services, OneProcurement, and Johnson & Johnson's business strategy and objectives. The role works directly with the business, category leaders, and the broader function. Additionally, you contribute to and/or own the operational execution of prioritized category strategy implementations, sourcing and contracting cases, and other critical functional activities.
This role performs activities related to executing the organization's strategic sourcing plan, from maintaining supplier relationships through contract negotiation, contract authoring, and contract management activities.
The Senior Specialist, Source-to-Contract, works to identify and address the needs of internal stakeholders, contributes to improvements in procurement strategies, and remains abreast of current market trends.
This is a seasoned individual contributor role, working independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Source-to-Contract function for IT categories, including sourcing event management, negotiation of price and other contract terms, contract drafting, negotiation, and execution, and stakeholder management. Deliver according to defined Service Levels.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, legal, and company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate across departments to develop and execute strategies that improve profitability and competitive position, utilizing market intelligence, risk assessments, and total cost projections.
- Drive continuous improvements in user experience, effectiveness, and efficiency in assigned areas.
- Support automation and AI initiatives within the area of responsibility.
- Develop strong, value-added relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers to understand and influence their needs and expectations.
- Apply Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in daily interactions.
- Oversee the end-to-end sourcing process, from supplier identification and evaluation to contract negotiation and finalization, ensuring alignment with business goals and cost savings.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts (e.g., SLAs, CDAs, MDAs), ensuring legal, financial, and operational compliance.
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers, managing performance, resolving issues, and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Work closely with legal, finance, and other stakeholders to align sourcing strategies and ensure organizational objectives are met.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in sourcing and contracting processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Drive process improvements using data analysis, automation, and best practices to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent university degree required.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- 4-6 years of procurement, sourcing, contract management, finance, or relevant experience.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and influencing skills to represent Source-to-Contract and procurement functions effectively.
- Learning agility and openness to change.
- Fluency in English (written and oral).
- Proven negotiation skills for commercial and legal contract terms.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and collaborating with legal and finance teams.
- Data-driven decision-making and risk mitigation expertise.
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple contracts and projects.
Preferred:
- IT procurement experience and/or legal certifications.
- Knowledge of Requisition-to-Pay and Source-to-Settle processes.
- Experience in procurement domains like sourcing, category management, R2P, or accounts payable.
- Shared Services industry experience.
- Fluency in additional languages.
- Experience in Pharma & MedTech industries and understanding of supply chain and supplier landscape.
- Familiarity with SAP Ariba, ServiceNow, or similar e-sourcing systems.
- Experience managing global sourcing and compliance with international regulations.
- Leadership experience and ability to mentor teams, driving process improvements through automation and innovation.
Other:
- Up to 5% domestic and international travel required.
Compensation: The anticipated base pay range is $91,000-$147,200. The role is eligible for performance bonuses, benefits, and long-term incentives as detailed on the company's benefits page.
