Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks a Spacecraft Thermal Engineer (Senior Member of the Technical Staff) to lead thermal design, analysis, and testing for space systems at our Chantilly VA or El Segundo CA facilities.

You will drive thermal analysis, modeling, and testing across multiple programs, mentoring teams, and liaising with customers to ensure robust thermal solutions for critical space missions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or pursuing within last 12 months).
• 0-1 year of industry work experience.
• Experience with spacecraft thermal control systems for all modes of heat transfer.
• Experience with SINDA/FLUINT and Thermal Desktop; other software listed.
• Ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct thermal analyses, modeling, simulations, and experimental investigations for spacecraft thermal control systems.
• Review thermal subsystem requirements, allocations, design, integration, test, and flight operations.
• Provide technical leadership to teams of 2+ in thermal systems engineering projects.
• Curate department knowledge in thermal analysis, design, and hardware.
• Support both classified and unclassified programs and engage with internal/external customers.
