Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a senior Thermal Engineer to lead thermal analysis for the MK1 Lunar Lander. You will collect inputs, build and run thermal models, and evaluate performance from launch to lunar surface. You will publish findings and support engineering decisions across subsystems.

The role requires deep heat transfer expertise, hands-on experience with thermal hardware, and mentoring responsibilities for junior analysts. A strong communication skillset is essential for reviews.

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering/Analysis experience.
• Proven hands-on experience designing and analyzing thermal control systems in space/aerospace.
• Senior-level understanding of heat transfer, fluid flow, and thermodynamics in spacecraft thermal control.
• Knowledge of heaters, MLI blankets, thermal coatings, heat pipes, radiators, thermostats, isolators.

Responsibilities

• Collect analysis inputs from stakeholders and engineers.
• Develop new or modified thermal analysis models.
• Create analysis cases for worst-case thermal performance.
• Analyze components and assemblies using varied methods.
• Post process results to draw engineering conclusions.
• Publish analysis reports to support decisions.
• Generate and present design review content to partners and customers.
• Mentor junior thermal analysts.
