Job summary

SES Satellites is seeking a Senior Payload Engineer to provide resident payload engineering support across satellite programs. Based in Sterling, VA, you will oversee design, integration and testing, and work closely with manufacturers to ensure compliance with requirements.

You will review test data, participate in design and readiness meetings, and support investigations and corrective actions. The role requires hands-on expertise with payload subsystems and a strong ability to coordinate

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of applicable experience in Space Engineering.
• Experience with payload mission specification and operations.
• Experience with analogue and digital payload equipment.
• Experience with repeater and/or antenna subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident payload engineering support to all phases of satellite procurement programs.
• Review and trend test data for payload equipment at unit and subsystem levels.
• Attend design, test readiness, and RF/EE review meetings at manufacturer facilities.
• Monitor payload component flow through build, test and integration.
• Support anomaly investigations and verify corrective actions.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support during payload system testing.
